Last night, I was watching the debate of the different candidates running for the senatorial election this year. This is already part two of the said debate or one-on-one encounter with their opponents.
I just wonder why most of the know personality in the field of politics are not there especially those who remained on top of every survey.
Some might think that they are afraid to face such debate knowing that there are many political issues that might throw to them. However, for the benefit of the doubt, some might just busy in campaigning so they did not attend the said debate.
How about you mylotters, what are your thoughts on the candidates that did not attend the said activity?

Are they afraid that they might tell something that could ruin their credibility and will be the cause of them not to get any spot?

I have a feeling that they are already had the election in the bag. After all, they they top the surveys, it's easy to assume that they will win - a trait that I really detest (see my recent post about that).
Anyway, i just saw this article form yahoo. I think its highly relevant - http://ph.news.yahoo.com/blogs/tinig-ng-botante/too-many-bets-too-little-time-election-debates-120401216.html

I think now the elections seems to be a popularity already. Most that tops the survey are the one that said to be popular. They are still the same names in the past. I think those who will win are mostly the same names before.

Yeah I guess they are afraid indeed to expose themselves in such debates since it will reveal a lot of them in that debate. I really think that debates are a good place to show yourself to the public that you are ready to face the senate. The senate is all about debates and for a candidate to refusal to join it just means the candidate is not ready to be a senator.

i did watch the previous sunday's episode and yes there were candidates who didn't attend probably because there might be some who are indeed busy or some are just not into public speaking? i guess to some it is very normal to speak infront of people and they are very good at it but for some they do find it hard..and well less talk less mistakes.

Good for you. We are holding our elections too this Sunday. Things are getting heated up over here but no debates thus far. One party invited the other for debate but nobody took up the invitation. We only have campaigns. This is the critical week. We have waited for so long for this. As citizens, it is our duty to vote.

yes it is our duty to elect what we think deserves. In my case, I haven't tried voting since I am not a registered voter yet. In case, I am going to vote, I think I can only vote a few and not the complete numbers of required candidates for a national position since I can't find someone that will complete my list.

I am really curious what Nancy Binay would say during the debate. She would surely embarrass herself.
