I was right to be suspicious. Getting large amount of traffic from one site is highly unusual. A quick search with Google and I confirmed my suspicions. I am concerned though because I visited the site and clicked on links. Hopefully, I have my fingers crossed that I didn't get any malware.
Hmm. I should just stop being curious about these analytic stats. I should wait and be patient.

I don't know what sites you have been visiting but, personally, if I am asked to give any personal information like email addresses, phone numbers &c, I always check out the Privacy policy before doing so. Even then, I usually use a 'disposable' email address (Yahoo can provide you with them - see here: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SLN3611&actp=search&viewlocale=en_GB&searchid=1367260590626&locale=en_GB&y=PROD_MAIL_ML ). That way, if a site starts spamming me, I can easily see which site it is (by the address that I gave it) and just delete that particular address.
As far as malware is concerned, make sure that you have a good AV program and keep it up to date. A good program will check your email and the sites you visit and warn you about and block any malware before it even downloads. I am using Avast (free version) and find it very satisfactory.

This is quite overwhelming for someone not so savvy about the world of net! This is going to be helpful since this is the first time i have read about looking at the private policy before giving personal info and of course using "disposable email address"
Thanks for this owlwings, God bless
