hey mylotters... i just started transcribing job and i find it fun. but i encountered a task where the speakers were cut off before they finished their sentences. how would i transcribe it? should i use ellipses(...) at the end? or should i leave it with no punctuation at all?
can somebody help me on this? i have read their guidelines but i didn't see anything that solves this problem. thank you.

Which site are you using?
There should be something mentioned in the style guide, id advice you to take another look at it.
If not, you can use "--"
Assuming i understood you correctly. You mean they were cut mid-sentence by another speaker? If yes, then you can use the two lines--
Example:
Speaker Speaks the Speech and while speaking--
(the speaker gets cut and another speaker starts speaking)
The speech is alright bla bla bla.
Also make sure to leave a line between speakers...
Speaker 1--
Speaker 2.
Speaker 3...
Speaker 1?
Speaker 4!
Etc etc etc...

I think there is another group that are in charge of this part. Their task is to identify the speaker. I'm not sure because I cannot do it with the site since I am busy with other stuffs.

In transcribeme yes there is another group responsible for identifying speakers.
I just used the above as an example to the OP that a paragraph should be left in between speakers. Not that he should mark the speakers.
How do you know the Original Poster is talking about transcribeme? I dont see a website mentioned anywhere. That's why i asked...

It really depends on what company you are working for because they all have their own specific style guides that they want their transcribers to work from.
I work for TranscribeMe.com and I know that there are a couple scenarios that you can do. If the speaker is cut off because of another speaker then you use double dashes right after the last word spoken, so see below:
Speaker 1: Well how many employees do you--
Speaker 2: Oh, we have 50 in the headquarters alone.
Now if you mean that the speaker is cut off because of the audio being cut short then I will put a period at the end of the sentence if it was an abrupt cut off, so for example:
Speaker 1: Well I had always though that th.
Now in this case I would put the period after "that" ... or if I could figure out that the cut off word was actually going to be "the" I would put the period after "the"... if you are unsure of the word however but you think that the cut off word is "the" then you put it as the following:
Speaker 1: Well I had always thought that [the?].
So in this case you have three scenarios either:
1) Well I had always thought that.
2) Well I had always thought that the.
3) Well I had always thought that [the?].
It seems to work for me, but I also make sure I follow the guidelines really closely. So make sure you know what your guidelines are.
