Small apartments in old buildings with no real insulation are no place for big dogs with loud voices. No place for yappy little dogs either, for that matter. Personally, if people are going to be out of the house all day, and don't have the time to devote to the dog, they really shouldn't have one! I've talked to the landlord and the neighbour numerous times, and nothing is being done about this problem. It's driving me nuts! Do you have to deal with loud dogs who's owners don't give a darn?

Thankfully, I don't have to deal with any dogs right now (did in the past). But what I do have to deal with is my cat who thinks I should get up at 7:00am or earlier, just to put some water in the bathroom sink for her!

We have a house behind us that has 3 dogs and house two doors down with a dog. The house with the 3 dogs get up at 5am to go to work so they let the dogs out for awhile then so they bark. It's worse this time of year when I want to have my windows open a touch. One day afternoon the one dog stood at the back fence barking for the 3 dogs who were inside. He barked for awhile. I posted on Facebook and the neighbour on the other side of them also commented about it bothering them. I think that dog barked for an hour. It's so frustrating and disrespectful.

No, fortunately for me, I live out in the country. Okay, so it's not all that country. I hear all sorts of sounds. However, dogs barking is not one of them. That's not to say it doesn't happen (like during the Forth of July), I just can't hear them from inside the house. My own dog rarely ever barks (and here she is a Chihuahua, which are known to be quite yappy). As it is she's asleep on my lap as I'm typing this out. She might though if a particular neighbor knocks on the door. But then again he doesn't knock...he bangs on the door! I used to live in apartment complex some years ago. There were no pets allowed (with the exception of the landlord that had 2 big dogs ), but then again this doesn't have anything to do with pets. It had to do with a neighbor who collected aluminum cans. And boy, did he collect a lot of them... The apartment complex was a single story cottage style and I lived in the corner of one. This neighbor (an older gentleman) who lived a few doors away and in a separate cottage would collect aluminum cans and crush them with a hammer right next to my bedroom window...at 6 am! He did this almost every day. Needless to say it'd wake me up with a start! It drove me crazy! Why he chose to do it right next to my window, and so early in the morning, I'll never know. All I know is my mom and I never gave him a reason to do so! Thankfully my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) knew how to drown out such noise. He'd use a fan whenever he'd sleep. It did take a little getting used to, but it helped out a lot! Years later we still use fans (or rather air cleaners) when we sleep. After all this time I couldn't imagine not using one. Anyway, if you don't already you might just want to give it a try. Just a thought... Happy mylotting and good luck!

I have neighbors 2 buildings over who have 2 or 3 dogs that might bark at you anytime you are out. I am sometimes coming in from somewhere late at night.......early in the morning............and they will bark if they are in the yard. I don't understand people leaving the dogs outside late and especially since they DO bark at everyone. At the same time, the grandsons have a good time running up and down the fence with them, as though they are chasing each other, playing, and sometimes they will bark at them but mostly they don't. BUT they recently put up a privacy fence and I haven't noticed the barking. Must be because they can't me through the fence, like before.

That's just not right. Shame on those people for leaving their dog behind for so long. That's not fair to the dog or the people in surrounding buildings. We have 5 dogs, 2 large dogs and 3 small dogs and they all can get right mouthy at times that we've had to holler out the door or window to quieten them down and thank God they do but if they start back up, we'll go outside and give them a stern warning then they know Uh oh.... we'll be good.... lol

You are right. People who don't have time to spend with their animals shouldn't have them. Our problem is someone's dog is pooping on our front lawn. When we walk our dogs we carry a bag to collect the poop. Yet someone allows their dog to just go on our lawn. Not good at all.

We just moved into a new house from the apartment complex. There is a grewat dane lives down the street, the owner put shim in the backyard or garage when he goes out, he barks all all all the time; most awful thing is he barks in the middle of the night as well...
