I got back from lunch, and just to be smarty pants, I texted Dearra "are your feet hurting yet?" The wedding's today, and she's going to be wearing the shoes that Oma thought were too high.
She texts back, "omg funny, I can't find the shoes, was just going to call Oma".
"Yikes", I texted.
"Was waiting for her to pick up, and Naomi found them. Apparently Oma can't pack the shoes together with the dresses. And she messed with dad's stuff too."
"Uh oh, I can hear the explosion from here."
"Yeah, she moved his suit, and we almost left with out it. He was NOT happy."
Usually I organize these things. lol

Ahhhhh. Poor R. Hard not to laugh. Poor kids. Oma must not have enough to do.

I would not put the shoes with the dresses. And I am not that good at organization either. Good thing everything worked out all right.

Sounds like the sort of thing my boyfriend's mother would have done before she slipped into dementia. Actually, she probably would have "helped" by tossing out the "trash" as well. She has always been obsessed with "cleaning"; anything from books to important papers would end up in the trash. Who knows how many important things she tossed over the years--long before the dementia took hold.

Wait until I tell the one about Dearra getting handed a baby. Classic!

I am glad that all's well at the other end.
I believe they must have had a little harrowing time but I suppose it is normal considering we all have different ways of doing things even when it is as simple as packing things.
One thing for sure, they will appreciate you more with these scrimmages and most of all, miss you. A good lesson about taking people like you for granted and appreciating you.

Hope that you had a great weekend. Have visitors from Canada. So knackered. Gonna sleep now. Doesn't it feel great that it is not your problem?

Yeah, except I kind of missed the family gathering even though it's his family....

It seems that your children (and your ex too) are learning what is not to have you around. And it also seems that your ex MIL is getting old for some things (I can understand perfectly well that from my own experience). Have fun while you are alone!

You mean Oma DISorganized things - ha ha! Moms know the science of how to pack for the family - anyone else doing it for them will most likely screw it all up! I guess it was one of those moments where they all thought, sigh, wish Dawn/mom were here!

In every household that I know of. the man can not do anything without their wife or girlfriend. Children can not seem to do anything without the mother helping them and following them cleaning up behind them.

In this case, their grandmother kind of messed them up...

Someone should help Oma organize these things, because she is too busy to forget them. Anyway, happy wedding for Oma.

If she had let them keep charge of their own things, I think everybody (except possibly my son) would have been fine.
