Magazine vs. eReading

I'm sitting at the cafe, rather bored because a glitch won't allow me to get to a favourite writing site. A second site is down completely because of a Server Transfer, and an issue with a third one hasn't allowed me to receive email notifications since January. I bought a magazine next door, but with the lighting in here, I find it hard to read. I also find it big and clunky (it's one of those big Ladies' magazines) and awkward to hold, because I have to hold it so close in order to see it. Being near-sighted sucks!!!!
The thing I lime best about reading on my iPhone is that it's compact, backlit, and I can adjust the print size!!
Anyone else shocked reading "the old way" after being used to eReading?

I prefer e-reading as it is more convenient for us to access to the news online. With the development of the Internet on the computer and smart phone, I do not buy any magazine any more to help save more paper because of magazine reading. My reading habit has been changed a lot because of the Internet and e-reading.

I'm reading both, but rather prefer reading "the old way" - I love to take the book or the magazine in my hand - it's more realistic. Maybe I'm from the old school, but even the new technologies are getting better and better it's just not for me.

depends. I like conventional reading with printed books, paperbacks and hardbounds. I also like ebooks since their more convenient and i can take as many books with me without having bulky books around. Due to sight restraints, like you i'm near-sighted, I have issues with ebooks too (reading with handhelds - phones or otherwise). But that doesn't stop me from reading... and loving books no matter what form... :)

Both have got pros and cons, one need lights while other need batteries.
somehow things change , someday people will start putting themselves living in advance technology. who want to go backward driving old junk antique car? if yes , not many will do it..

It all depends on the generation you are brought up and individual choice. I am used to both eReading and pritned suff but for me, i prefer reading a magazine over eReading as the magazine gives me a comfort which i can find on eReading. May be the thought differs from the genx guyz who got used to eReading much.

three months ago I was reading a kindle book on tablet and now I'm reading a paperback book I really don't have a problem doing it both ways it doesn't seem to mess up my attention span but I hear ya once we get to use to E-books I see people having a hard time looking at paperback magazines

yes i like to read in both ways but eReading is more preferable as we can carry the stuff to any where and just search on our phones or tablets and start reading.
its a better way to reduce the paper use also and go green :)

hi danishcanadian.
i had no trouble adjusting to reading from my tablet versus reading from a magazine or book. i found both activities quite the same. not much different really and didn't really need to adjust to either one. what i do miss when i read from my tablet is the scent of the pages of a new book or that of a newly-printed magazine or newspaper. i also miss the ink of a newspaper smudging my fingers.
reading from my tablet doesn't give me these small joys!
cheers!!!

I seldom read magazines. I just read my husband's magazines but he stopped buyingfor a while. I don't buy magazines nowadays because I don't want to waste my money and my time reading them. I'm not that interested in magazines. LOL. Though, these past few days I read some novels on my phone. You're right. We can adjust the font size, the backlight, etc. And most of all, I just download those e-books for free. They don't cost me any penny. I wasn't able to myLot these past few weeks because I was hooked to reading. I just finished the third book last Sunday so yesterday I tried to myLot but I guess there was a problem. I want to be active here in myLot again. Let's hope there won't be no glitch. Let's enjoy myLotting.

as a matter of fact, I am with the "old readings " cause e-reading can do great harm to our eyes and even the brain cells. while the tradional reading is quite useful and insteresting that you usually having a book or magazine in your hand which is so good.

I like to read the real books, magazines etc and take my time and I like to flip through the pages. I also want my three kids to see me enjoying reading and looking at books.

eBooks hurts my eyes. I would still pick the 'old-fashion' way of reading over eReading. I will always love holding a book and bring it anywhere I can go. :)

Although eReading is popular now, I always like to read in books because I feel more confortable.

I have a Kindle and do enjoy reading certain items on it more than holding the bulky item. You just mentioned one of them, as some of the articles are interesting and I can just get to the page easier.
Sorry to hear about the sites down. Its hard to just sit waiting for them to come back up. I know when my cable is down and I'm trying to get certain things done on time its bad. Yesterday it was work had to wait to send my work out and hate to be late just because the cable is down.
