Spontaneity VS Planning and Preparation

Yesterday was another "surprise" OAW trip. One of our friends is going to Manila and he'll be using the car by himself. In the spur of the moment, he just asked my husband if we want to come along. No second thoughts, we said yes! Haha! No buts, ifs, and no preparation at all because he said he's going to leave in two hours and that's only enough to have a shower and change clothes. We even brought the kids with us! Luckily with that two hours I was able to pack important things since I have Zami with me. But I still forgot some things like checking the gas tank, unplugging switches and bring mint. (facepalm) Another "unplanned" trip was early of this month, OAW had lunch in the apartment and since it's so scorching hot, we thought of having a swim. First, we selected something near our town, just minutes away. Then someone suggested to go much farther into the blue-watered river, but was cancelled out because it's already after lunch. Another suggested going back to one of my friend's hometown at Nueva Ecija, north of Philippines, about 3-4-5 hours of driving. Then it went back to going for a swim so someone suggested Batangas area, south of Manila, just a few 1-2 hours away from our place. We're given just enough time to prepare whatever our drive will be and we're off again! We ended up in Batangas' beaches and had our tents and spent an overnight at the beachfront. And what I forgot this time? Baby's diapers... So she soaked wet her dress before leaving the beach and we just bought new packs of diapers...that...was...left...at...home. (facepalm) How about you guys? Like planning trips or just go with what is now? Thanks for sharing! :)
