Strange Place For The Cat To Be Sitting At 3 AM. LOL

A funny thing happened the other night. I was asleep, and Hubby got up to use the bathroom. He wandered into the bathroom, sat down on the toilet, and screamed. LOL Seems the CAT had decided to take that exact moment to jump up on the toilet, stick his head in there, and have a drink. LOL I guess the lesson here is to turn the light on and look, before sitting down. LOL Does your cat ever do this?

We keep our bathroom doors shut because there are certain members of the feline crew that think tp makes a great toy.
We also have a few cats that think water from the sink is the most perfect refreshment.
Timus, my white kitty, is one of those.
Last week I opened the bathroom door and he came flying out of some place and leaped on to the commode. There was a scramble and a splash and a some what damp white cat came flying out again!

Yep! My husband's cat does this in my bathroom all the time. He closes the door to his bathroom because he thinks it's disgusting for the cat to drink out of the toilet and maybe it is in this case because he cleans his toilet about once every six months. I clean mine at LEAST once a week so the kitty isn't getting totally gross water.
But, it's a fact that cats love to drink cool, fresh water and the water in the toilet is usually cooler and fresher than the water in their bowls.
I've gone into my bathroom dozens of times to find the cat's behind facing me while she's getting a drink. Fortunately, I ALWAYS turn my light on at night. lol I'd hate to sit down on THAT cat. She is the meanest cat on the face of the Earth, I'm convinced of it. If I sat down on her, I think I'd lose part of my anatomy and wouldn't be able to sit for a good long time.

His and her bathrooms. His is the master bathroom off the baster bedroom, where he pushed me out with his refusal to use his CPAP machine even though he has severe sleep apnea, making it impossible for me to get a decent night's sleep. I sleep in another bedroom and use another bathroom. (Besides, he uses Irish Spring soap, the stinkiest soap on the planet which is why I use it to repel deer from my garden. lol)

Oops, not baster bedroom, MASTER bedroom. Freudian slip maybe?

Ahhh, the memories you have brought back to me!!! When I was living in Montana I had a cat that would crawl down into the toilet bowl to get his drink of fresh spring water that came swirling out of the tank...unfortunately he would get showers when I would go racing for the bathroom to pee...I was pregnant with my daughter and well as everyone knows the little darlings press on your bladder and you need to pee more often... I think that poor cat got at least 5 showers a week-both from me and the shower to clean him up!
Willy, my present Siamese got sat on when he was on the toilet. Another one of those evenings where I didn't turn on the light when I went to the toilet. He was lucky, I just sat on him before he leaned in to get his drink. He hasn't gotten up on the toilet since.

My mother's cat who is a Russian Blue named Isis only drinks out of the toilet. If the lid is down, she will scream and scream until someone opens the lid for her. But now that I have her, she's upstairs with another one of mom's cats and she has the toilet mostly to herself unless one of us is up there and uses it. I still put a bowl of water on the floor but she still wants the water out of the toilet. As for my cats, some do and some just look inside and want to play with the water.

LOL your poor hubby. I bet he did get a good scare. I could just hear Keith now if that happened here at home. I am afraid the poor cat would be put outside. None of the cats I ever had would drink from the toilet. I think we always closed the bathroom door so that they could not get in there.

LOL you can never know with kitties. I never caught mine doing that, I usually kept the bathroom door shut anyway. But I saw they'd sleep almost anywhere they could squeeze themselves in... in cardboard boxes, on top of the fridge, you name it... But that's sort of another topic already.

Harmony prefers the sink. But I keep the lid down on the toilet, anyways.

I cannot help laughing while reading the cat funny cat. I am sure that your hubby must be scared by the cat when he felt it. Maybe the cat was scared as well. Usually at night when we use the toilet, we do not turn on the light as we can see it. I hope your hubby will be careful next time.

Hello my dear,
I must say that my cat usually gets awake after 3 a.m. as well. Mostly it depends the hours of all the members that go to sleep - she prefers sleeping with my mom, and as such she usually goes to sleep between 11 to 2 a.m. My cat doesn't drink from the toilet but not once have I walked in on her in the bathroom (she prefers the sink ).

Poor Shakti!
Our cats are not allowed in this bathroom. Note that I don't say that they do not go in--simply that they are not to be in there.
Over the years, I have seen cats in all sorts of places. At least one of our three has been caught by me with face in the toilet when Daddy forgot to put both the lid and the seat down. Apparently, toilet water is a delicacy in the feline world...

Thanks for the chuckle on this one! I couldn't help but laugh! I can't say anything like that ever happened with me.

The cats always have many different behaviors, but not scare us in the night. Maybe you can give a box to the cat for its bed.
