MyLot is my confessional of sorts

These last few years have been particularly trying for me, and when I need to get something off my chest, vent, or ask for advice, I've come to myLot. I did not see the alert until this morning regarding upcoming changes here. At best, they were vague about when everything would change, except the date of our final payout. I have to say that I'm angry and disappointed. I came to love myLot over the years. I've made countless friends. I cherished my anonymity here because there were things that I just couldn't bring up in a conversation with friends I saw regularly. It was like having a great therapist for free! I'm not sure if I'll like the 'new' myLot-I guess time will tell. MyLot was definitely unique among the paying sites, that's for sure, but now it appears to be accommodating bloggers more than people talking about their lives, or sharing their views in an adult manner. But if any of my friends here are leaving and would like to keep in contact, send me a PM and we'll exchange info.

I'm checking out the 'making more money' forums soon-I'm worried because this is my only source of income until I'm approved for disability. For some people like yourself, this is a life line!

When Gather comes back up it is okay to join. Bubblews pays faster. I am on a site called Sidetick that earns a little and Textbroker is my main source of online earnings. I have not been paid by bubblews but I know a lot of people who have. I am always either Gardengerty or HeatherE.

No, it isn't going to be accommodating bloggers. I'm not certain what they think that they are achieving with stripping out the earnings program, but it definitely isn't to attract more people to the site (bloggers or otherwise) or to retain those of us who are already here.

Seems it is trying to be a mini facebook. I am sending you a pm but will be gone most of the day. I have suggestions for people who want to earn and one of my friends mentioned that it will be a good place to promote in a non spammy manner your other content online.

Yes it does-and myLot is a discussion site, not a social media site. I'll check my messages later-still trying to get through my backlog of email here. Thanks-it's much appreciated.

I`ll PM you my email, Gerty. I`d love to try any site that pays and it is international. Mylot`s anouncement today has been a mayor earthquake.

Also very interested. I'll add you as a friend and PM you. I hate to jump ship but we may just have to do that.

yeah it's going to be so different now. I too have used Mylot to help me with relationship issues, family issues, work and business topics as well. I guess things are going to be so different now... I wonder how many will stay after the change

I might because myLot is a hell of a lot cheaper than therapy, that's for sure! But it would end up being a downer too. Guess we'll have to see what happens....

God knows how many things I spilled about family and work frustrations - actually, anything that relates to people and dogs! Besides, sometimes you get more advice than a therapist would give. It's a good indication that people really care even you are anonymous.

I am both sad and angry with whatever is happening here. I do not like that arrogant announcement and I felt that it totally UNFAIR to give such a short notice about the minimum payout. It is simply disgusting. Animosity aside, I'd like to say that it is nice knowing you and though the time is short I hope to be considered amongst friends of yours. So, do keep in touch.

Thank you. I did receive your PM, and will do my best to stay in contact. I wonder if we'll ever see a site like myLot again?

I am disappointed in the vague statement they put out this morning. It reminds me of my experience when I was laid off-I was notified at 2 PM (my shift ended at 7 PM) that I would be done the next day; the rest of the second shift were notified prior to starting. I had to wait that evening for someone to come in because I didn't have any way of securing the building. So I've been angry about how we're being treated. I enjoyed our discussions, but without the incentive of earning money, I'm not sure how much I'll be on here. Maybe we'll see one another around.

Sorry that you have to experience things all over again and at an unexpected place like mylot. I am still recovering from this but since I am at work now, I just try not to think too much. However, I will be scrambling to exchange contacts with people like yourself to stay in touch outside of mylot. So, please do cheer up and check my PM to you.

this place had been my diary of secrets, many people here knows my darkest and deepest secrets that I will never share with family and friends. The question is...will people still bother to read my secrets after all these changes occured? hope that mylot earnng program will stop because of a new and bigger earning program.

myLot has been unique. I'm not sure what I'll replace it with.

They've been such a foundation for the community that we've all built. I haven't heard of anyone, save one, that will miss it in its original form. They didn't listen to the majority who just wanted to see a few changes, but were overall happy here. I've not yet found a new place, but maybe they're trying to get Facebook to buy them out, like they did to MySpace....

Yeah, I agree with you. It made me sad and a bit disappointed, too. I think I don't need another Facebook-like site. I don't blog so I guess myLot won't give me any help so far. I guess I will still make my account active here. See some of my myLot family members if they decide to stay here. Cheer up. Who knows, myLot will change their decision about the payment thing in the future. Let's cross our fingers.

I haven't officially started blogging, but if I do, I'm not going to have the personal details like I shared here. I've got to find true revenue streams because I'm not working and that would hold me over a bit until I get my disability approved.

Oh. Goodluck to all of us. I guess we'll see each other until the new mylot's launch. Let's keep on posting and enjoy this old myLot site for awhile. We don't know when will they launch it. I think our hours or days is counted. Maybe it will be sooner than we think.

Completely agree with you. Now I have to find another 'therapist'. I need a session right now.

I'm thinking of sticking it out, even though they've released my personal info into cyberspace once. I'm afraid that our community will go away-and we had demonstrated that we could (for the most part) get along pretty well.
