Have you learnt anything on mylot which you have not learnt anywhere else?

On this forum, so many different ideas can be read. So much of knowledge can be received. This forum is certainly a valuable hoard of information.
Of course, most of the knowledge could also be got somewhere else, from some other website. I am curious to know whether you have learnt anything on mylot which you have not learnt anywhere else.

I have learned a lot about other countries and cultures here on Mylot. I often start discussions where I ask other members to share things from their cultures and their traditions and I have learned many things about some of the countries that I didn't know much about before I joined. Here on Mylot I have many friends from the Philippines and the things that they have told me about their country has inspired me to visit some of the those places myself 
I have also learned many things about other countries. I guess that I could have found the same information on other websites, but I think that it is more interesting to talk to locals from those countries.

before i joined mylot, i never knew that being vegetarian is practiced due to the religious beliefs of some people. i used to think that it was a choice based on healthy living, nothing more.
i've always trusted wikipedia for facts. in mylot i learned to appreciate the different perspectives of people coming from different cultures all over the world.
