I'm putting away my crying towel mylot....I still love you!

I was just as disappointed as everyone else was when we got the news that mylot won't pay us anymore. But look here a minute. How many discussions have you answered that asked if you would be here if mylot didn't pay? Most of us said we were drawn here for the money and then stayed for the friends. I know I did and I can think of a handful of my friends that said the same thing. Was the pennies we earned the only redeeming quality of mylot? Most od us said in discussions that the pay was just a bonus; the real treasure of mylot IS the friendships we have made here. There are those who don't care about anyone else here. They will admit to not being real friends with anyone here and they are/were here solely for the $10 payout a month. While I am always happy to earn here, $10 or $14 or however much I make in a month isn't going to buy much. Granted, I added it to my grocery money, but its over. It's time to wipe our eyes and decide if our friends are worth staying here. Do we value the information that is exchanged here? Have you ever learned anything from mylot? Have you ever come here to help solve problems that were too much for you to handle by yourself? I'm raising my hand! I'm sure there are some places we can earn to post if that is all we are after is a payout. After sleeping on it, I think mylot is going to be better than before. Look, you can block me if you don't want to see my face anymore. That has to be a plus for anyone who gets annoyed with certain people who you don't like that much or you have issues with. I was mad and upset like everyone, but I see an upside. Those of us who have online businesses can post links in relevant discussions that aren't spammy. We can post links to our blogs and articles. We can use mylot as a marketing tool. I decided not to hang on to the sour lemons that I received by the news that mylot isn't paying anymore. I decided to make lemon aid instead. Is the $10 that is being taken away going to make or break your budget? I know one or two that it will really affect. They do depend on the money. One person earns enough to pay her Internet bill. Another friend also will feel the pain of not having it. But what did we do before mylot? I used to stay on an unpaid forum for hours and hours every day before I heard about mylot 7 years ago. I didn't miss not having that $10 then because it wasn't an option and I lived. Yes it is disappointing news we are no longer being paid for our efforts. I bet the quality of the posts will improve. You won't see so many poll type discussions anymore. You still will probably see diary type posts because many of us just want to vent. There will still be problem solving discussions because we all have problems. Solving problems and venting frustrations is still more valuable than money for me. I can make my money by writing. Those who are here to improve their language skills are more likely to stay if improving their conversational English is important to them. Those who seek genuine conversation are more likely to stay also, at least that's my take. I'm done with my crying towel and going to be here for the friendships I've made. How about you? Maybe one day mylot will evolve again. They might have a point system reward program ...**hint hint mylot** Your take mylotters?

Sure shows me the didnt care. Look at all the people with just 2.00-3.00 in their accts. they have no chance to get to payout in just a few days. Would have been nice to give them a couple of weeks.

Very true, Just seems unfair to those that had say only a few dollars. They wont have time to get to 5.00 here.

I couldn't agree more. It is disappointing, depressing and stressful too. whatever it is I had fun and good memories with MyLot. But I hope they reconsider not removing the paying program.

What if its just a 'test' to see who is loyal and who isn't? If 90% of the people leave mylot will either revamp again to draw users back or they will disable the site. I think with any big corporation that makes marketing changes does marketing tests to see how a product sells. How could this be any different? It's not selling a product, but I think if they are smart they will test the waters to see if their idea will be a flop or be successful.

I have been through enough 'reorganisations' and redundancies to know more or less when I should take offence at something and when there is no reason to do so. Yes, it was short notice and yes, the way that the original message was worded was rather like a slap in the face for some people (they have, I see, removed the somewhat chiding remarks about the $10 a month). I also felt very gloony about the whole thing and seriously thought that MyLot might have shot themselves in the foot. I slept on the news, however, and today I am feeling a lot more optimistic, at least, about the new site. Enthusiasm may have to wait until I have had a chance to see it and get familiar with the new system and its rules. I would hate to see it go the way of Yuwie but I live in hopes that moderation has been thought through sensibly and with consideration for all users.

I saw that they removed that part and it is not the first time that they have altered an Alert after comments from their users. I sense that it will now become a promoters haven and that all those online earners (or would-be online earners) will swarm the place leaving no place for quality discussions. Maybe I am wrong but whatever happens it will have lost it's charm and the warm feeling that it had until yesterday, at least for me.

Personally, it was not what they did but the way that they did it with not enough warning, which in my books is disrespectful to those who have made their site what it is today. There are other ways to stay in contact with those that I have become friends with here without me having to be here after being told what we were told yesterday. That hurt

The earnings for me were just a pleasant bonus. I probably lost more posts and spent more time reporting plagiarists recently than I did posting, so the earnings were not the reason I have been here over 6 years. MyLot is my online home but the lack of consideration in the announcement yesterday was, in my books, disrespectful to those of us who have done so much here (and on other sites) to make myLot what it is today. After that what it will be tomorrow will not depend on my efforts - once bitten twice shy. I will not close my account but I doubt very much that I will be participating in what I believe will now become a site for business-minded people just searching for referrals in one way or another for their sites.

You people have given a lot to myLot and you understand it very well. That's why the original comment must have hurt you. I didn't see it except in the responses, and to be honest didn't get it. You surely have other means of contact but you will not find me there :(

Ditto for me, Di. All of you who have read my posts over the years have read how important it is for me the respect for others. For me it is the foundation of any relationship. And this site seemed to be the perfect site in in that respect. If that anouncement made by mylot yesterday had been made by a mylotter, we should have reported as "abuse" and "guidelines violation"

I agree with you 100% my friend and I, too, have 'slept on it' and will stay..just to see what happens really. I'm so pleased you're willing to stay. Let's face it, we're addicted to this site aren't we.. but in a GOOD way. Believe me, I have learned LOADS by interacting with members on this site..I can't mention it as the list would be too long..and we can't make lists. Or can we? Haha!

I'm glad you will stay too Janey. Mylot is as important to you as it is to me. My friendships here are like plural marriages. I love all of you, who are my friends, in my own way. I'm so glad we are friends Janey. I love having friends around the world. You and Gabby (Gabs - i dont see her much now) are really important to me.

Yes the black cloud has shown it's ugly face her at my lot and a lot are not happy about it. I will not be coming here as much when they change it is not because of the money but the fact they lied to use said it would be better pay outs and a better site money I don't need that bad I just hope I will have friends when it changes over to the new site.

I don't remember seeing that mylot promised better payouts. Is there a way to go back and find that alert? If we could find it we might at least be able to ask them why. Mylot has always been faithful to me so I will still come here for fun. You are my friend. I hope you will still come and talk occasionally.

My reasons to be on My Lot are the interesting discussions and my friendships with like minded people. I love My Lot that way it has been since March 10th 2007 and April 30th 2013. In all over the years I have earned around 600 dollars on My Lot. I used to view the earnings as simply a bonus. I used it for luxuries and some people used it for essentials. I worry that some of my friends will leave My Lot. I believe My Lot will never be the same again.

Hi Max. I've made about the same. Ive been here since 2007. I think the loyal ones who are here for the friendships will continue to be here. In many ways the site will be better than it is now. It just won't have the payment. What I have gained here is far more valuable than money. They money was good, but it's not going to keep me away because I'm not getting it anymore.

I'm not leaving just because they aren't paying but the total lack of respect and the rudeness in which they went about informing us of the end to the pay. I saw the first notice prior to them changing it and it was pretty rude. If they had thanked us for helping them earn and become what they are and maybe told us that they could no longer afford to continue to pay us then I may be more understanding. I'm not staying here and help them earn when they have so little regard for us. Look how long our private info was up for the world to see prior to them removing it ...have they even fixed that problem? The apology for that was lame but we forgave and hung in here. Of course it isn't just about the money and thats not why I'm leaving. I've joined the Mylot refugee camp over on facebook. A lot of our friends are there and we don't get paid there either. You should check it out...hope you do. Lamb posted a link in one of his discussions.

It is also sad that they seem not to care or consider the fact that, unless we log in, we do NOT see the Alerts. Those Lotters who have offline issues that keep them away right now are completely unaware of what is about to happen and that, in my books, is disrespectful. It was suggested in the past that the Alert should go out to ALL users (just like the notifications) so that no-one is left out when important changes are about to occur. Yet another instance confirming that we, the Lotters, are not that important here after all.

PointlessQuestions I know everyone pooh pooohs the money part but if you were me and the retirement center took al lof your social security and SSI checks but 128 dollars a month you would feel badly when yur earnings to pay onto your cable bill were just stopped bam. I love mylot and all my friends here and am not leaving but I will have to find a good earnings site and spend som e time there too as my bills jut keep right on needing to be paid;I do think mylot could have warned us at least much earlier about dropping the earnings program. I have a lot of time and love invested in my friends here so a m up myh time a bit differentlyy.

I had you in mind, Hatley, when I said that some people depend on it to pay Internet bills and so on. For the most part, most of us don't make $30 a month (that would be cheap for Internet) to pay for it. Our Internet is $64 a month. There's not much I can do with $10 or $12 a month, and some months I don't make payout at all. So for me, while I liked the money, it's not a significant amount. You might try Bubblews. I hate that site but I guess it just takes getting used to.

I'm also staying if my friends will stay and discuss stuff. It's a great pastime. I used to hang out in an unpaid forum for hours on end and had a ball. I never knew about being paid for it until Mylot. I figured one day it would end... there have been too many posts made about what would we do if Mylot suddenly stopped paying... so I think it was on other people's minds also.

Hi PQ! Before myLot I was on sites that did not pay - and I spent a gazillion hours there for sure. What brought me here initially was the perk of earnings - and then I got hooked just to be here! But I do have to say the earnings did help. It was great when I made it to payout just in time, but most times I didn't - it took months sometimes. Still, what little I made here (and other sites put together) added up to a nice sum - and that has allowed me to do something for our family. Considering I currently do not work, every little bit did help. I took a lot of pride in being able to bring in "some" income. Soon enough I will be in a different place in my life. As soon as my little one is off to school full time in about a year and half, I will need to go back into the working force. I'd like to work from home, so I need to make my ideas come to life - no more thinking about it. As I said in some other posts, it's a "sign". I'd like to come play on myLot, but I think I need to make use of my time now to get off my tushy and truly get serious. I'm sure I'll be here every now and then - I'm curious like everyone else how this "new" myLot is going to be. And it's quite possible I could use it as a marketing tool . . . I don't know . . . I have to see how things pan out (for me AND myLot). And if I'm lucky, perhaps some of you who will stay just might remember me and we can catch up! So it's not exactly "the end" yet. It's nice that many of you do have high hopes for the new myLot . . . and it's possible it could go in a direction no one really thought of. I will still keep one foot in the door. Will miss ya, PQ!

I'll miss you too, and I'll see you when I see you, okay? I'm doing other things too to earn. I still think mylot will evolve into some sort of reward program. I might be wrong as dirt, but I just kind of think this is some sort of testing of the waters, so to speak and they haven't told us. I mean, if they run everyone off due to not paying them they won't make any money either. I give it a few months and see if it evolves again.

They told the truth, however rude you think it might have been. Those who make 60 posts or so a day to rack up a big payout will have to go somewhere else to do that. I'll be here for fun and my real friends who stay and i'll make my money on yahoo and swagbucks. Aren't you the queen of rude? You hardly ever have a good word to say about anyone in your life, friend, foe or family. I would think your skin would be thicker than that. . You can't take a direct comment? $10 isn't going to make us or break us here. That's the truth. That's not rude. Unless you are homeless (using Internet and homeless?) $10 isn't a lot of money. It's only a lot if you don't have a penny to your name.

That was a good rallying post, PQ. I'm still kind of in shock over it, but I'm sure I'll be here off and on. Maybe not quite as often, but then I might be. It depends on what really happens now. I'm sure myLot will go through some changes that may not be anticipated, but if they continue to moderate the way they have to stop out and out spam and to keep people from being abusive to one another, it could very well become a better place than Facebook to relax and enjoy friendships. I keep saying "we shall see," but that's the only thing I can say right now.
