As some of my fellow MyLotters know, I am very craft oriented. I design and make artist teddy bears and I also design and make one of a kind jewelry. I have two separate work areas for both activities. I do bears in the designated work room and I do the jewelry in my family room (Okay, my "family" is Bill my boyfriend, Willy the flame point Siamese and his brother Khuay, Dinglebeary the Main Koon cat, C.D "Crazy Dog" the mini dachshund, Abby the pit/lab, and the old man of the group Little Bit who is 19 years old and all he does is eat, sleep, and poop....big family huh?).
Lately I've noticed that the beading table has been disturbed. I put a towel over it because Willy loves to chew wire and mono-filament line. It would kill me if he got injured from chewing anything so I protect him like he is a 8 month old baby. Well I thought Willy was busily digging under the towel for his favorite chew stuff, but he crashes on my nice warm waterbed at night and doesn't move until morning when I get up. Dinglebeary doesn't show much interest in string or wire unless I am attached to one end of it, so he's ruled out. The dogs? Nah, the little guys are crated at night and Abby is 13 and just not in shape to snoop under the towel. Khuay....hummm, nah he doesn't much like wire or beads.
Last night the mystery was solved. I got up to go to the bathroom and stepped on something hard...I don't turn on the lights when I go to the bathroom because I have night lights all over the place so it was a surprise when I stepped on the hard rolly object on the floor. I reached in the bathroom and turned on the light and was surprised to find a turquoise bead bracelet on the floor!!! Now how did that get there? I know that I didn't have it caught on my clothes and I didn't carry it around with me. I picked it up and checked for dog slobber...nope, it wasn't Abby. I stood there scratching my head when I heard a strange yowl...I raced for the yowl because it came from one of my babies and he might be in serious trouble. I skidded to a halt at the entry way to the family room. The towel was jiggling back and forth like a belly dancer!!!! There was a clue...a long orange tail sticking out from under the towel!!!! I very quietly crept into the family room and gently pulled up the towel...there on the table was...KHUAY!!!! Not only was he under the huge beach towel that I had folded in half and put over the beads, but he had a bracelet hanging from his lips!!!! He took one look at me and shot off the table and raced away, still carrying the bracelet. I gave chase because this time it was a pearl bracelet, we raced through the work room, down the hall, and ended up in my bedroom. Khuay, still hanging on to the bracelet, flopped down on my bed and tried to look innocent!
I couldn't get upset at the little fiend, he is such a love and a real joker. I just need to find his hiding place and recover the other two bracelets that I made to go into my booth space at the antique mall.... besides he is one character that is so inquisitive and fearless. I've caught him in my purse, getting ready to steal my wallet (I forgot to give him his allowance?), he's been to the bottom of the fiberfill bag (it stands about 3 feet high and is jammed with fiberfill) and scared the daylights out of me when I reached down and got a handful of cat, and he has been found in the freezer after I had opened it and he crawled in from the top of the fridge. Right now he is stretched out on my arms making writing this difficult to say the least. Who could NOT love a adventuresome soul like his???? I just wish he could go easy on the thieving!
Anyone else out there have such a character? I have said many many times I am so glad that I adopted Khuay, he wouldn't have been happy in another home.

Hi Loverbear, of course it was Khuay, who else? Looks like he is interested in your jewelry, which is going to make it harder to protect, if you ask me.
I also wanted to know, you do realize what is going on here at MyLot, right? That after the new site is up this week they are no longer paying us and some are leaving. I am not leave just yet, I am going to stick around and see what happens, but since you didn't mention it, I thought I would alert you to what is going on.

I am going to hang in for awhile and see if the site improves. I know that I was getting tired of the people who were on the site just for the money! I would open my email account for the Lot and there was one person who would have 20 or 30 discussions listed that were posted a couple of minutes apart! You could tell that the person was in it just for the money. Yes, the money was great, but I do like discussions that have some substance.
I hope with the changes we won't lose contact with each other!!! I absolutely adore you and value your friendship.
You gotta love that insane cat! If he hasn't thought up the mischief it isn't worth doing! Bill and I were discussing the little guy last night on the way home from town and as I maintain Khuay wouldn't have lived if he had ended up with a different family! He can be his predestined cat self living with me. I love that guy so much, he is such a character. First thing in the morning he jumps up in my lap and lays there purring like crazy staring up into my face with absolute adoration in his eyes.

@Loverbear It is too confusing for me to stick around and be active, I can't even see where to start a post and earlier I couldn't even see my activity. I also can't find my messages, I think they got rid of them.

lol...the same thing happened to me. My daughter gave me a beautiful family type bracelet for Christmas. I took it off to shower and forgot about it. The next day I went to look for it and...gone! I couldn't find it anywhere and I have two frisky cats so I got down on the floor and started looking under everything. Thankfully I found it...under my couch....Gee who did that? lol....naughty cats!

It sounds like you were blessed with your own "Khuays". They make sure we're never never bored. It makes every day like a treasure hunt!!! I am still looking for the hiding place that Khuay stashed all my hair ties. He has at least 200 of the things!!! He would spot one he liked and during the night he would sneak in and grab it and stash it somewhere in the house (I don't allow my cats outside....I want to cry every time I see a cat laying at the side of the road). I didn't tell my fiance, but one night Khuay latched onto my engagement ring and carried it through the house, I about had a fit! Fortunately Khuay realized the value to me of the ring and brought it back to me and dropped it at my feet.
I think a lot of the thieving is a sign of the high intelligence of our cats. They get bored with their toys and decide that they need to grab something of their owners to give their owners hot and cold running fits! Ya gotta love em though!!!

I actually saw a video where a cat was stealing from the neighbors and stashed the objects around the owner's house, and it was quite embarrassing for the owners and increasingly annoying for the victims.
Oh not to mention the cats from hell show on Animal Planet - now those are some bad cats :) I find yours funny with this venture but I don't know yet what other adventures he gets into.

I saw that video too, I am sure that if I allowed Khuay outside he would be the same thieving cat as the one on the video. I could imagine finding towels, shoes, and so much more on my front stoop. Then having to put a table out for people to reclaim their "lost" items! That cat's owner, like me, needs to teach the cat about the value of money so that it can go out and help"provide" for the family and earn its keep!
I don't know if my previous discussions remain through the transition, hopefully they are still accessible. I plan to write a book about my adventures with Khuay and his antics. He has swiped bras, walking shorts, underwear, jewelry, hair ties and so much more. I have found him in the freezer (I still don't know how he got there! I live alone and am very careful around the cats). There is so much that cat has done that it will easily fill a book. Khuay is the cat in my avatar, his favorite thing during Christmas season is to play "jungle cat" in the Christmas tree. He doesn't climb it, he just wiggles into the lower back branches and "lurks" there. He is such a sweet, smart, entertaining cat that I adore completely.
