Home gadgets was once exciting for me. Even when my family had a refrigerator already, I still wanted a small compact one for my own room. That was some twenty-five years ago, when I was a young pro.
One of the home gadgets I bought was a rice cooker, and when I had my own children and had to live in another house, this was one of the items I brought with me.
Well, that was twenty-three years ago, and I do tell my daughters every now and then, that our rice cooker was older than them. And they also wondered how such an old thing can cook white rice, brown rice, red rice, and even cook corn and carrots, steam siomai and siopao, and so on.
That's my rice o' matic, a wonder, really!
But yesterday, the old beauty finally gave up, just refused to light. So, it's ready for the junk shop, but of course, right after I've taken a pic, for memory's sake, and a tale I could tell my future grandchildren.
