Ok so i never wanted a dog but my husband and daughter wanted one so i finally gave in in Feb and we got a puppy. i work all day and my husband stays home and doesn't take the dog out for a walk. So after working all day and coming home and making dinner i then have to take the dog out for some exerciser cause she is so hyper by then.
He comes up with tons of excuses for not taking her out. the best one is that he is afraid of missing a phone call. no one ever calls we don't know anyone where we live so who would he miss a call from. he says from me but i'm working and don't have time to call. driving me crazy.

Since they are the ones that wanted the dog then I would put my foot down and say that if they do not walk or care for the dog then you will be finding the dog a new owner that has the time to him him/her the attention it needs. It is not fair to you or the dog to be pent up in the house all day with no means of exercise or relief.

My husband went through a phase where all of the dog duty fell on me. I finally flipped out (in the not totally crazy way) and made it clear that while I like the dog, it is not one of my kids, and I would find it a new home unless he started doing more than his fair share with the dog, as I do most of the schleping of our child to and from places.

I will say that is not cool if he is home all day. You should tell hi that taking the dog out actually relieves stress. I am not sure what type of dog you have. I have a a German Shepard. and I can actually let him run off the leash because he is so smart ant loyal. Of course it is usually at 5 in the morning when no one is around but to me it is very rewarding seeing how happy he is in these situations.
