Do You Agree with 1 Corinthians 11 about Hats in Church?

It says--basically, among other things--that it's an 'abomination' for men to cover their heads in church and for women to uncover their heads in church.
In my church, women almost NEVER cover their heads. But most men AND women take off their hats while a leader says a prayer.

When I read the Bible I always refer to the footnotes to help me understand the authors intention. Sometime the author is addressing a particular problem or custom during that time in the Church. Here are some footnotes that may help:
Footnotes
1 [11:2-14:40] This section of the letter is devoted to regulation of conduct at the liturgy. The problems Paul handles have to do with the dress of women in the assembly (1 Cor 11:3-16), improprieties in the celebration of community meals (1 Cor 11:17-34), and the use of charisms or spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:1-14:40). The statement in 1 Cor 11:2 introduces all of these discussions, but applies more appropriately to the second (cf the mention of praise in 1 Cor 11:17 and of tradition in 1 Cor 11:23).
2 [3-16] Women have been participating in worship at Corinth without the head-covering normal in Greek society of the period. Paul's stated goal is to bring them back into conformity with contemporary practice and propriety. In his desire to convince, he reaches for arguments from a variety of sources, though he has space to develop them only sketchily and is perhaps aware that they differ greatly in persuasiveness.

So I guess the King James Version's epistles ought to be rehd more as 'letters to them' than as 'letters to us'---not saying that The Blood-etc. don't apply equally to us (because they DO apply equally to us!), just that this is a DIFFERENT TIME than 'theirs' so The Blood-etc. apply differently.

@mythociate Paul was one of the greatest disciples of Jesus and helped the Church grow. God is eternal and never changing,so the epistles DO apply to us, however in some cases Paul has to address the audience of the time. Some of the customs do not apply to us today. I hope this makes sense????

This is where a bunch of old know-it-all's sorta lean back & say "Awl, we're in ... uhh ... the Dispensation of Grace!"
This is the 'Buddhism' of the church: sure, bare-headed women and hatted men are verboten (or something); but try to tell them that, and you end up with an empty church ... pristine, sanctified, high-holy as Hell---but empty.
Maybe THAT's why Jesus couldn't stick around; the world is WRONG, and to happy with itself to go through the pain of being made right!
