I need a free word processor that isn't memory hungry.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I use OpenOffice on the laptop. Dunno why, though. I just got to thinking about it. I have Microsoft Office 2007 and just never installed there.
But OO runs decent. It has a lot of the same features Word has, but its settings are very fickle. Set up some editing features, and, BOOM, it wants to edit everything! And it just changes it without asking.

A word processor is rarely memory hungry. Several other members are recommending OpenOffice, and it is a good choice. If you want a lighter but still efficient word processor, you should also have a look at Abiword. It is more similar to Microsoft Word than OO, and you will perhaps feel more comfortable with it.

Aha, found you! Your new username's missing the 7, so that's why I had trouble finding you.
I use OpenOffice.org's Writer program to compose my articles for Bubblews, and Calc to track all of my earnings from various sites. Not that I'm doing much with other sites now that I've started focusing on Bubblews...

I downloaded one for the kids - They do their homework on it.
I am at work at the moment, so I do not know the full details of it - It is an Open Source program.
I will forward you the details, when I am at home.
It is a promoted as a free and viable alternative to MS Word

@Yangshang want useless spam? Please stay at the new uglyass myLot where they let this spam stand but quickly delete any criticism because they'd rather have no integrity and money than to be emotionally butthurt by the truth.
