Yesterday, I left the house and there were cones in the middle of the road, and I said "oh good, they're going to pave it". Tony gets here for lunch and says "they're paving the road". The he tells me that TV and internet are down.
So I hoped all would be back up when the kids got home, but Naomi texted me "internet's down". So I told her she could either call 1-800-Comcast or wait until I get home.
Then, as I'm leaving work, R calls me and says "traffic on your street is awful, they're paving it". Yup, I know, and I'll come in from the north side, which is shorter, plus it will be after 5, so hopefully they won't be there any more.
So I get there, and sure enough, one side of the street is paved (they're doing the other side today), and the construction guys have gone home, so no flagmen or any of that.
I get in the house, and I'm getting pulled 3 different ways. But after I sort it all out, I call Comcast. After a long wait, they come on the line (I think Comcast must have its call center outsourced to the Philippines from the accents), have me unplug the box, send it a signal. No TV. So they say they're going to send a stronger signal, give it 45 minutes, and they transfer me to an internet tech person.
Great, 10 minute wait time. Meanwhile, I get disconnected, call back, additional 10 minute wait time. The guy sends a signal to the modem, has me unplug it, tries again, then tells me I will have to bring the modem into a Comcast location. I ask him, very clearly, why he thinks that when the phone and TV are down too. "You have to take it there", he says, no reason given for the other outages. Great, the nearest one is 20 minutes away, closes at 7, and by now it's after 6:30.
So he transfers me to somebody to help me with the phone outage. She immediately grasps that since phone, cable and internet are all three down, there is something bigger going on here. She sends a few signals too, but nothing is fixed, so she says she will have to send a tech out to the house. This is, of course, not free. And the first available appointment is on Thursday. Sigh.
So I post something on Facebook about this, and my sister gets on and says "omg, you mean your kids will have to actually talk to one another and read books or something?" hahaha
True, too much TV and internet, but you know, a lot of their homework is internet based too. Dearra had e-mailed herself a powerpoint from school so that she could work on it at home, and now she can't until at least tomorrow night.
I'm sure it will be fixed tomorrow after paying them $20 - $60. But how annoying to have their people tell me two different things. One wonders which one had their head up their butt. I'm guessing it's the guy who said to bring the box into the office, but we'll see.
So last night we watched movies on DVD. At least we still have electricity and cell phones. lol

Uggh...i hate dealing with tech support over the phone like that. Last month i spent a wek jumping through hoops to get my internet fixed. Countless times on the phone getting transferred from one person to another, then to top it off they transposed two numbers of my phone number so when they called the first day they were supposed to come out, they couldn't get a hold of anyone to confirm someone was there so they could show up (obviously, as they were not calling the right number). So had to re-schedule again....showed up, changed out some cables, said it should all be working, but that night it was worse than it was before, so had to have them come out AGAIN...luckily i don't get charged for service calls (and with what i pay them per month for my cable/internet...i should certainly hope not! lol )

What an annoying thing!.It happened that something went wrong with internet, outages ,etc.at the same time, which we depend on them so much.Sometime we would come across the situation where it never rains but it pours.Hope they will soon put them to rights.

Amazing how dependent you get. I pay my bills online, the kids do their homework online...
