My roommate will get married.

it does suck when our parents don't agree with our decisions...particularly when it comes to relationship and men. My father tried to talk me out of getting married until literally 5 minutes before the ceremony began. We must look at the fact that they have more experience than we do for one....but also just that they are trying to look out for the sons and daughters. In my particular experience, i wish i had listened to my father, as i wound up separataing and getting divorced form my husband with in a couple of years....yet at the same time, my mother married him against the wishes of her family and they were married for almost 40 years (and still would be if she hadn't passed away). Sometimes you just have to follow your heart. If one is really close to their family, it might cause more heart break to drive them away than to leave someone you wish to marry, and in other cases the opposite may be true. All i can suggest is that IF you are friends with your roomate, be there to listen to her and talk to her.
