superbelated happy birthday. better late than never!
a cake with dates and walnuts even without frosting is already yummy to me. well, if it's mocha or coffee-flavored frosting i would be in heaven!
um, what is that contraption next to it?

That contraption is to scoop out a piece. I hope you remembered to use it and not picked up the piece with your fingers. And thanks for your wishes.

This kind of cake is very common in my country.
My grandmother bakes it on a regular basis every week. She uses wheat flour, eggs, cocoa, some salt... I personally don't like this cake too much if no chocolate cream is above. That cake with no cream is like a sweet sponge that dries the mouth. If you add some chocolate cream on that cake, you can warm it up at the microwave and it melts a little bit. When you bite it, it gets inside your mouth, the sweet warm chocolate and the sponge cake mix together.
happy birthday 2u

@stringer - This is a date and walnut cake and instead of maida I used wheat flour. The dates keep the cake moist. As you know a cake has eggs and butter in it. And thanks for your wishes.

@allknowing Really, what's your username there? Most friends used a different name there, so very hard to know who's who. LOL! Do add me there when you do come across me again.

That is wonderful and here is wishing you a great birthday! I remember the discussion we had earlier and how was the cake?
Do you use the traditional baking oven or is it a microwave oven? I love to bake and my microwave is giving me a problem right now.I intend changing it.

Hi kala - First things first where are you? I am going strong in Mora Chat which is just like our old myLot. There are many myLotters there Very relaxed atmosphere. No politics. .
I have a cooking range which has a baking facility. The cake turned superb. Wheat flour has not made it taste any different. Have a piece

I missed this post of yours. A Very very happy (belated) Birthday to you and this date 24th happens to be special for me also, so from now onward I should not forget this date. The cake looks yummy and I wish if I could have a piece of it.
