How lenient are Universities with students who have 20 to 30 ucas points less than what they expect?

I know it depends on how competitive the course is and if the student had any external problems and if the student has picked that uni as a firm choice;
So,
Course: Computer Science
University: Nottingham Trent
Firm or Insurance? Firm
Say if someone had 30 ucas poitns less than expect and chose the above choices, would he still be accepted?
