Himalayan Aura from Mukteshwar in Uttarkhand District is a treat to watch
My recent family trip to the midst of untouched nature is heaven and a place to be..A journey told!
Sitla Mukteshwar is perched right on top of all hills in Nainital District, Uttarkhand State .Northern Belt of India (Land of Mountains) , at a height of exactly 7500 ft above sea level and directly opposite the great Himalayan mountain ranges is definitely a place to explore and enjoy.
A comfortable drive from Delhi to the site is 326 KM and it all makes sense.
En route you will cross many small towns and villages that spark complete curiosity and enthusiasm in the individual traveling in search of calm and peace that nestles in Mother Nature. Behold, beauty in the most pristine fashion coupled with silent enchantment takes your every breath away.
The road to Mukteshwar is semi-long and winding but lacks ‘Tire’ thanks to the road able ply, thick foliage of whispering Pine, Sal and Oak trees plus other lush green healthy species of plants and shrubs that thicken the forest glow to a magical treat filled with sway and drift of every leaf and branch that adds a melancholy of thunder beat to the onward journey like an orchestra in constant rhythm & tune!
Bhimthal, the first major stoppage where one can see and mingle among tribal’s in one among the 9 lake townships with Nainital being the biggest of ‘em all, its small, its compact and does deliver a promising hefty punch in terms of entertainment and worthwhile tourist spots, the ever green lake and its many flower orchards are a sight to watch.
The roads are swelling and one sure gets the feel that driving up the winding path on such mountains is Child's play, ample signage and tiny eatery is never in short supply.
Houses and cottages are mostly of colonial British style with a touch of modernization added on among the rich and famous who own these beautiful miniature mansions plat formed to perfection with Mother of all mountains (Himalayas) looking on…from a parental point of overview!
Back to focus point the ride to destination goes on …first glimpses of Mukteshwar and its vast expansion of tells you that caution is vital and one needs to tread carefully for this place is sacred and lovingly protected for various reasons including the world famous Jim Corbett National Park Reserve forest that spills over at this point, the upper portion is entirely a part of the Government in particular IVRI (Indian Veterinary Research Institute) that takes the initiative to safe keep the wild animals with constant medical aid and action plan time and again, the whole reserve is cordoned off from the public eye in wake of preserving rare species the mount the verge of extinct in the name of animal kingdom.
Sitla Mukteshwar is slightly below the Main Town of Mukteshwar and is a place for the common man to reside, many famous personalities from around New Delhi and elsewhere have their summer camps and cottages that set ablaze frenzy feeling during the peak months, activity is sparse but visible when explored positively.
Snowfall, soothing, comes down in abundance during the months of Dec through Feb – Cold is bitter and sweet in this heavenly abode. The singing of colorful birds of rare feather and occasional sequential howls of a lone jackal or fox is a moment of truth that reminds you yes, this place has come alive! The night is full of nature’s activity that comes in the form of short bursts screams and calls from creatures great and small.
The numerous lighted houses actually dazzle likes tiny diamonds in the night thus, forcing one to pull that camera from the pocket or closet for pure nature cam shots that tell a story for many more moments to come. Trickling streaks of water from high slim mountain trenches makes a hissing sound and correlate with the reptiles that seem to respond.
Early morning mist and clearing thereafter leaves you in a trance, for the glow on the snow capped giant mountain (Himalayas) comes alive in full circle, leaving you scrambling for company to share the spoils. Nanda Devi the top most peak of the gigantic range is part of India and visible to the naked eye and is something of a spectacle to watch and behold.
An NGO, a small call center, ashrams, temples and rest houses are filled with delight to entertain peace and harmony of a rare kind. The pleasure of plucking and eating fruits and nuts of the richest kind such as Walnuts, apricots, apples, peach, pear etc is naturally satisfying …
It’s a journey slow alright but, the thrills and spills makes it a jolly good bumpy ride makes the word ‘worthy’ a pleasant surprise !
