With summer is coming, I have so many decisions to make. Especially with kids around and I know nothing is going to go as I plan it. I am going to try a schedule of things to keep them busy. I guess I will see how it goes.

Ah relax, kids hate regimentation, it's holidays! Anyway how else do you learn how to deal with boredom if you're never allowed to be bored?

i totally responded to a discussion using that logic on here the other day....someone was wondering how to keep her 4 year old niece from constantly saying she was bored whenever she babysat her..i gave some suggestions, but also told her it was important for a child to be bored some times....if not, they will expect constant excitement, and who can keep THAT expectation. also pointed out that when a child it "bored" they learn to use their own imagination and entertain themselves which is important.

@fruitcakeliz I have one child with ADHD and I have to keep her busy with some type of school work over the summer or she will be far behind at the beginning of the school year. Thank goodness there are resources on the internet. I am praying this year will be better but it depends partially on how hot it gets here. Alot of the time humidity can kill best made plans. I like I said we will see how it goes. Good thing I am laid back and not uptight about everything.

@work4kids2007 i totally understand what you mean. what region of the united states are you in? i now reside in new england, but grew up in the midwest...and i remember the 110 degree heat plus humidity where even leaving the five feet in front of the air conditioner was considered sweat inducing hard labor.....even if it was too get a glass of water.......and i totally get that kids with special needs/attention disorders require more stimulation to keep them on an even keel.......let me see if i can find the link to the post i commented to before so i can share the ideas from there........though in all basic actuality it was things like building a fort (either indoors or out doors depending on the weather and availiability of resources...) and inventing a myriad of different story lines on what the days adventure was...also arts and crafts projects involving a "nature" hike around the neighborhood and collecting rocks, sticks, leaves, etc., then bringing them home and make artwork out of them...

Making a schedule is a good way,but it's hard to follow it all the time. So just keep it!
