A friend of mine told me of this great quote from the Matrix. " My Beliefs Do Not Require Others to Believe The Same way. I agree 100%! I have always been this way . I'm told as a baby I had this same attitude. I never asked others what I should believe and I'm not starting now. All I ask is that people respect my beliefs like I respect theirs. If they can or will not, I walk away.

Ah, but if those beliefs affect the words they say or -the actions they take (which affect the actions you must take, affecting the actions others must take, etc.), then you're naturally going to 'call them on it' ('it' being the fact that they're standing on a foundation of traditional hear-say in the face of cold, hard evidence)
Playing 'Devil's Advocate,' I then reply that they've trained their feet to walking on that ground ... the solid ground you're standing on HURTS their feet! (or the beliefs that they have are the beliefs that they need in order to be at-peace with the bad decisions they've made).
"Whatever lets you sleep at night!" ('G*d grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change.')

Right or wrong it it their beliefs. I'm no bully . so I just accept that they will Never change and move forward. i do not Call them out on it. I see that they have a completely different view and it works for them.just as mine works for me. if we can't agree to disagree , I say Scr@w them and walk away. It is the disrespect that gets me. Not everyone is suppose to believe in the same exact things!

"There is no compulsion in religion"
Every human being has the right to believe what he wants, which is in charge of what is believed. Whether it is right or not , and he will face a result of his choice .
If God wants all people to one religion , He can make them as well, but gave them freedom of choice .

But that is what Christians say. G-d wants Everyone to be a Christian or they will go to hell. I say I'm going to hell , thanks. and then I walk away. But actually this came up because I believe in reincarnation and my friend tried to mock me . Mistake. I think I let him have it.

I will respect you but I can not promise that I will respect your beliefs. There are some beliefs held by some people that do not have value or creditability and do not deserve respect.

I respect everyone's beliefs, logical or not. As long as you don't mock me , we will be fine.

@sarahruthbeth22 When I go to the OED I find respect as a noun defined as: a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements: and as a verb: admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. To me respect has value and must be earned by merit.

@Chiang_Mai_boy for me respect is given automatically until a person is rude or mean then it is taken away and never comes back unless they apologize.

Hi Sarah!
You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. You should not change your mind because others do not want you to disbelief. Everyone walks in his own way in life.
