I am a mature aged adult so it is a long time since anyone has been able to tell me what to do. However, once I left home I made my own life and made my own decisions, so if I was prepared to do that then I had stand by my decisions and do what was right for me.
We taught our son to do the best that we could, and if he made a mistake then he should own up to it, but otherwise he has to decide what was best for him. Sure, there are some things that he does that we would not do, but that is his choice as he is now an adult. If we want our adult children to be responsible and independant, then we cannot dictate to them what they can and cannot do. To attempt to do so, undermines them plus also sends a signal that they are not mature enough to decide for themselves.

Traditions were not made in a single day. Wise people of those days made these traditions generations have followed and looking back today, I think they have done well. Development has not stopped. Families that have followed traditions have stayed together.
I agree, some times traditions need to evolve or removed, so that should happen and have happened. A revolution does take place.
WE cant simply ignore our traditions and call ourselves GenerationX.
