Yes. The word 'hole' is somewhat misleading. A 'black hole' is a star which is so massive that the gravitational force allows nothing to escape - even light. There are many black holes and, of course, they are quite difficult to detect since we can only detect them by the effect they have on things near them and by the way that light passing by them is affected.

They say that stars such as sun will turn into black hole after they are destroyed.I am not sure if it is true.

@changjiangzhibin89 Some stars do become very massive and will eventually become black holes. Our sun is really very small and will more likely be dragged into a black hole at some time in the very far distant future.

@owlwings Oh! the sun cann't avoid being pulled into black hole,much less the earth.
