today i spend several hours reading a book The Island writen by Victoria Hislop. i have to admit this book is really a perfect one~ it deserves its famous reputation~i like its style, just like a grandma told her grandaughter an old story~this book actually is about three women's life~~......

Is it a work of fiction or non-fiction? Can you give a little more description about the story line? i love to read and am always looking for good recommendations...

it is a fiction~it is about three women's stories~the backgroud is in GREEK~~actually, i do not quite understand the story~ exactly, i don't understand the backgroud~ what i read is a translated copy in Chinese~ i am afraid the reason is my lacking the knowledge about the local culture~so i just can understand the plot~i give u this website u can get a better understanding about it~

@Cathy_Lee unfortunately your link to wikipedia didn't have any info/didn't work , but you gave me a title and the name of the author. just have to say i can only imagine how much harder it is to read a translated copy of a book, opposed to reading it in its original language and rying to understand all the cultural differences. if the plot of the book was engaging enough to keep you interested with OUT knowing much about the history of the area/background..i can only assume that means it was very well written.....i thank you for you suggestion and once i get through the long list of things already on my kindle to read, i will def. look it up!
