its my first time to go abroad. so, now, im here at Dubai and working in a fastfood company. Lots of adjustments to do. Be it with the weather, religion, culture and people. Good thing there's still a lot of kabayan here (my fellow country folks). Hope things will be fine in time.

yes, thanks for that nancy, im there's plenty of adjustments to be made since i came from a democratic and Catholic country, and even Dubai is an open country, muslim culture and religions is very much prevalent. yes, i also believe that in time, i'l get used to things around here. ^_^

but dubai is an open city, isn't it, so at least, it's not as strict as KSA, though i think the cost of living there is very high. did you work in fastfood companies here before working there? are there any similarities and differences in how they are run?

yeah, ive worked as a cashier in chowking food company for 4mos. before coming here. its sure is similar, since i work as a cashier here also.but, its a bit complicated here since its drive thru only, and we handle the delivery and by doing so, i have to operate 2 pc at the same time, for delivery and for the drive thru customers. there's still alot to learn, y'know. and yes, dubai is an open city, so its pretty cool and good, but still we need not to be careless since muslim relegion is a very delicate topic and is practiced by majority of the residents here. and there's the isuue of getting to use to there accents.. lol

Hi there! Welcome to mylot. Congratulations on getting a new job. It will take time for you to make adjustment in new environment of a foreign country. Hopefully, things will fall in place gradually. You need to show bit more patience to settle down. Our best wishes are with you. You could share your experiences here on mylot and could start some discussions on your experiences.

It is nice that there are people from your own country to who you can relate, but if you really want to adjust, try hanging out more with the people who are native to Dubai than with your own country members. I hope you like it there.

you surely have a point there! well, actually, the nature of my work revolves around different races, nepali, egyptian, and arabs, We work as a team in our store, so i get a lot of communications to them everyday. so i guess im loosening up to the culture here in dubai.

The big story here in the UK is the Suffi/Sunni argument especially the Dubiai explosion. What's your view?
