It's unfair

It's totally unjust when u didn't commit the act but then the blame fall right on on your shoulder. I encountered such experience yesterday evening while working. I took the phone order and give it to the cashier so that she'll pounce the order into the machine, but then, she threw the paper away and when the customer arrives to claim his order, we cant give him anything!. He yelled at me and blamed me. And even through all the ruckus, the cashier didn't even say a thing, she didn't even asked if i'm ok or what. and that makes me feel worse.

as cupkitties said, people will remember the first person they dealt with and want that person to explain, apologize and fix the problem. most likely, they will also criticize your company as being disorganized.
don't you have a copy of the order slip? that could be your proof that it was the cashier, not you, who dropped the ball.
if not, then try to develop the habit of following up the orders you gave her since you're the one the customers are sure to call again and get mad at.

@Ladypitchblack people are afraid to admit their mistakes (would even lie about it) because they think they will automatically lose their jobs.

yeah, u have your point and i respect that. And i acknowledge also my lapse in the first place. well, i already stated my side with my previous comment in cupkitties' post. I guess, its true enough that 'our best teacher are our experiences".

Unfortunately the customers will almost always blame the person they are dealing with directly which happens to be you. Its most likely that they don't know how things work there and they assume that you are responsible for everything. Seems kind of dumb, but that's how it is. It's doubtful that this will be the last time. Just don't get upset about it because in the end, your boss knows who is at fault and who isn't and that's the person you should worry about.

thanks for that cupkitties. Of course i acknowledge that i have some lapse about what happen due to the rush in the store and everything. But what i feel bad for is that the cashier didn't even apologize to me knowing that she took part of such crisis.Sure! i'ts ok if i take the yelling and everything the customer said but at least she should have apologized to me since she saw first hand what happened. not just ignore everything as if nothing happened.

@Ladypitchblack Unfortunately she was only interested in saving her own butt which is why she didn't speak up. She knows it was her fault and to apologize is to admit guilt. It'll come back to bite her though.
