As many of you know I underwent major surgery on my back recently. The surgery included the implanting of two 45 mm metal rods, bones grafts, a small cage to hold the bone grafts, and metal screws to hold it all in place. After the surgery I spent three days on liquid dilaudid and valium, which I feared would trigger my addiction. It did not. Then I was discharged on percocets which I also figured would aggravate my addiction. However after three days at home I was able to call the doctor and ask for a weaker pain killer because my pain had lessened extensively. I give the credit for this to the power of faith of all those praying for me from whatever faith you belong to on Wikinut, Bubblews, MyLot, and other pages. The bond of friendship and the power of faith can literally move mountains. I truly believe that. I wanted to announce that I made the decision this morning that I will be able to quit the pain killers without rehab. I will of course continue going to 12 step meetings. They are essential to my recovery. Their traditions prohibit me from saying which program I attend. I respect their traditions very much. I will take my last pain pill this afternoon if I need it. So far I haven't needed any. Muscle relaxers have been sufficient and I suspect they will continue to be. I have healed very rapidly and I know it is due to your faith and prayers.
