THE BUDDHA SEARCH…

Amidst pristine Himalayan pines at 8000 feet
Through placid greenery of summer
And deadly opaque snowy winters
I focus my wavering consciousness
On yak bone Chinese Buddha Head
With dreams of Clear Light
And ambitions of Nirvana
As my mind ascends, energizes, transcends
Higher than Mount Everest could reach…
Thoughts and sounds cloud the periphery
And confusions, memory, slowly recede
Until clarity dawns and peace descends…
I continue to play little spiritual games
Looking into past, present, future
Rising to a crescendo of nothingness
The shunyata of Hindu convention
Like meditating godmen in primeval forests
In search of my real self, true unclouded being
Devoid of the travails of Samsara
In a mystical dance of forest, river, sky
My Bhutanese and Tibetan guru contemplation
Motivated by You Tube lessons, universal religion,
Indian sages, history and gadgetry…
And the search for my essence…
