Here in Trinidad in the Caribbean you often hear old time calypsos on the radio which is the old time ballards of Trinidad and I remember the times and places in this music. The singers give names and times and events and attitudes I knew as a boy or young man. Trinidad was really a lovely island in it's inception but the politicians have spoiled it although not many people here will say so. They have their loyalties, I suppose. But a lovely island it was and a great place to live in especially the way we treated each other. It's not like that now but when it was it was really great. Truly fine. Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, as the song went.
