Going to lose my job probably..

I joined this startup company 1.5 years back as a Java programmer and life was going on well, but the company wasn't making profits as rumour has it and just last month, 7 of my friends were suddenly terminated with 1 month of notice period. I was among the lucky few who survived, and the top brass even praised my dedication, and made me part of a "core team" which will continue to work with the company. But for the past couple of weeks, there hasn't been a lot of activity, I don't have much to do, and the attitude of the top guys are seeming a little frigid with me. Maybe I'm now next in line for getting the boot. Is there any of you fellow myLotters out there who have faced a similar situation where you're uncertain whether you'll remain employed the very next day? If so, please share your experiences and what steps you took to carry your life forward from that point onward.
