It is shabby, it is consuming, it is toxic- A divorce is usually filthy. Witnessing a divorce within the family makes one wonder about his/her own marriage. It makes you view your relationship from a different perspective- a lawyers perspective. The purity of martial bliss is instantly replaced by questions relating to your spouses bank balance and your future financial security.
The couple seeking a divorce might have issues that have nowhere bothered you, until now but since it is breaking your near and dear ones home so it begins to haunt you too.The soul of the marriage ,the solemn vows, the needs and the wants of your own and that of your spouse are all tossed away in a grinder, churned and snapped into bits and pieces that are way beyond
recognition.
In a country like India where marriages are so sacred ,the rural women fast for several days to please the gods so that they can have the same husband for another seven rebirths. The concept of a divorce was alien until recently. More than seventy percent of the marriages being arranged by parents or relatives, a pre-nuptial agreement is never considered.
So if the marriage ends all these relatives start fighting like cats and dogs, each side claiming for monetary compensation from the other party. The marriage is dissolved. The money settles down but what will always float on top is the "Dirt".
