One Sided Relationships
Avoid Disappointment
One sided relationships hold consant disappointments for givers who don't realize takers are using them. Feeling drained, givers who eventually wise up, leave the relationship.
Dealing with draining people causes continuous disappointments. Draining people drag us down, wreaking havoc on our overall well being, especially our emotions. Such relationships lack hope, happiness, lead nowhere, and have no future.
One sided relationships with draining people cause irreparable harm when giving takes too much from givers. At some point, givers feel drained from maintaining the relationship for too long. Drained givers lack energy for better relationships, because their self esteem is affected.
The givers in one sided relationships lose out when they don't realize they're being used. It's sad when givers don't realize the relationship is bad. It's worse when givers don't recognize the warning signs of bad relationships. Doing all of the giving all of the time drains the giver, that's why givers shouldn't give too much.
At the relationship's end, givers feel like failures, when they must finally leave the taker behind. Feelings of guilt, sadness, disappointment, and anger leave givers grieving. Givers sometime reach a point of being so drained, that leaving is the only option. The challenge to leave is difficult, since the first step is the hardest. Givers who tend to stall, find themselves staying in the unhealthy relationship, and prolonging their suffering. Those who reach their breaking point find freedom when taking that first step. When givers are truly ready to leave an unhealthy relationship, a good support network will make leaving easier. Support networks can remind givers that after taking that first step out of an unhealthy relationship, the following steps become easier.
* Something to remember; A healthy relationship requires a balance of give and take. True friendship is mutual, not one sided.
