Last morning when I was waiting for the train in the train station,I saw two foreigners, who were also awaiting the train.I wanted to talk to them, but I was afraid. After few minutes' hesitation,I went to them and showed that I wanted to chat with them.
One of them was a teacher in China. He was very very open, always talking about sex, naked and the shortcomings of Chinese parents. In fact,I couldn't accept that because I am a conservative one. When he was leaving, he tried to persuade me to find a boyfriend because I am over 20!Though I was not very comfortable with his words,I still thanked him for talking to me for a hour, sincerely!
The other is a master in Chongqing University. He was shy because he talked little. But I could feel his friendliness.Because when I couldn't know what did the 'master' mean,he was willing to find his student card to show me.From the conversation,I knew he just went to Beijing for a sport competition.I didn't know why,I likes him than the teacher.
There was a moment that I thought I had made a progress on my oral English. But I knew that was not true.I should practice more.I hope one day I can communicate with foreign friends freely.
Only if there was a foreign friend teaching me English and I teach him Chinese!

If you have a goal Elynn that is so wonderful and I hope you enjoy pursuing it.
I like talking to strangers too. I am friendly and often you will meet someone that is not too busy. Enjoying conversation does make learning a pleasure.
Excuse me for saying but it sounds like the foreigner you met who was more interested in talking about those subjects than to you. Was it this you wanted - hitting on?
I think conversation alone is enough reason to talk to someone. Just talking is a reward.
I hope you meet nice people that you deserve to talk to.

Thank you for telling me your major is in English at University.
The two parts reading, writing and speaking a language will make you qualified.
Talking with English speaking people is an excellent choice.
Elynn, I think I understand you but not completely sure. The way you described your activity could also mean you hit on men to hug and kiss them. Oral means doing something with your mouth. Oral English means talking rather than writing.
I hope you understand me. I am trying to be helpful.
yours sincerely,
a friend

Hm, I think I would have told the first one that I was uncomfortable with the topic...
