I don't think so,I have to admit that there are some Chinese students who are not concerned about world affairs but there are a large number of Chinese students who show their big interests in it.I think your teacher is a little provincial(NO DEFENSE),he or she should view it in a light of development.

Some how she is right because, I think must China students don’t participate in world affairs because of language issues.

Chinese student prefer using their own language and they shame showing their bad English.

No shame is necessary. Just think about English speaking people trying to speak Chinese!

Actually a lot of Americans don't have a clue as to what's going on in the rest of the world. They think America is the entire planet.
It's doubtful that Chinese students don't care about world affairs. Maybe some, but not most.
