How to teach my sister English?

I am a junior student in the college. Now my sister who is 19 years old will go abroad to study next year. However,her English is poor and I shall teach her English so that she can be easier to get along with classmates. What troubles me is I could not find ways to teach her better. Can you give me some advice? Please do not advise me to find some training institutions. She just wants me to teach English.

As a non-native English speaker myself I can totally understand your and your sister's situation. What your sister can do is to make it a habit to read books/magazines, watch movies, etc that are in English. Also, this one is very important, get her to use English in her daily conversation. There's nothing more effective than the constant practice and you can help her by being her conversation partner. She has to get used to communicating verbally in English not only so that she can get along easier with her classmates and tutors, but also to boost her self-esteem.
