knowing more is better?

It depends; really, knowing more is good for you ... until you learn too much (it's like the gold coin that breaks your camel's back ... all the gold in the world isn't going to help you if you can't move it around!)
It's like ... money. As far as you know, money is worth 'sacrifices' (time, property, comfort, etc.) But I know something about 'money' that makes it less-attractive to me, so that I don't have the "urge" to make the 'sacrifices' for it (because ... because of what I know about it).

@cyj921 I think of "Deuteronomy 29:29," a line of the Bible that says basically that God knows everything and will give you the knowledge you need to have when you need to have it.

Knowing more is only good if you can handle the knowledge and use it properly. The more you know the more responsible you will become.
