I'm new to mylot, do you earn money from these posts or is it just asocial network, not a major issue either way but I heard that you get paid to post and I can't see where the earnings are being recorded.

Mylot ended their earning program long ago. You can still make money here, but not directly from Mylot. What I mean is, you can post your affiliate/referral links or even link to products/articles or blogs that you wish to promote and that should help you to earn from those sites. There are guidelines to this though, so read thoroughly before posting.
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

Welcome to mylot. To answer your doubt, I would say - one does not earn money while starting a discussion or responding to a post. It is like a social networking site, where you could share your ideas in the form of a discussion.
