Why do people that are planning to kill themselves often call loved ones and tell of their intentions?

It is simple. They wish that their loved ones can save them from the extreme step.
But some could not understand their confidence reposed on the said 'loved' ones.
If at all I could be helpful by being loved one, is what I wonder now!
