Anger Management

When I was employed I worked for an overwrought employer. As Production Manager I always ends up taking the heat whenever something goes wrong. After every "sermon" from my boss I naturally feel bad but my staff would have a re-enactment of the situation or make a parody of my boss in his moments of anger. The blunder would then turn into a funny situation and I ended up laughing. Now that I'm a part-time tutor to kids, my patience is often put to a test. I have a particular student with a particular attitude. She talks back and ill-mannered most of the time. i wanted to quit but her parents are so affable (I wonder if she's adopted?) I acquiesced. But every time she's into one of her tantrums, and I was on the verge of retaliating,.(she's a kid ,I can't do that!) what I do is go into the wash room and play Candy Crush on my mobile for five minutes, and when I come back I feel better and ready to make peace. A few days ago, my dog was killed in accident. Several friends asked me how I reacted. I was supposed to be very angry I should have hit the driver with a pipe or whatever. But at that the anger didn't immediately sink in. It was my grief which overcame my being. But after a while, I got so mad I wanted to settle the score, and looked for the car-owner. Early the next morning there was a knock on my door and viola! There's the car-owner with a new puppy in her hand. She was very apologetic and she looked sincerely sorry for her driver's mistake. The puppy licked my face and washed my anger away. I was just thinking, if I wasn't able to control my anger, and reacted to these situations differently, what would've happened? It's not about NOT being angry but about controlling your anger. It's about thinking five to ten steps ahead and visualize the possibilities that might result if you let your emotions get the better of you. As my favorite preacher, Bo Sanchez said, "Do not follow your feelings; Let your feelings follow you." "Stupid people express their anger openly but sensible people are patient and hold it back."( Proverbs 29:11)

I got angry at a police officer because I received a ticket for very little. I paid the fine then discussed this online, with friends, and another police officer. This action made me felt better. I've been angry at other more serious things which I have not releasing so the anger is accumulating as time goes by. Your article made me think of these things.
