What does it mean to be like Jesus today?

Last Wednesday was my dad's day off he works 3rd shift. I can't explain this but I am going to tell the adventure anyway's. I am never hungry at 8:30 AM. This particular morning I woke up and asked my dad are you hungry? He said yes, I said how about we go to Shoney's for breakfast. He said okay. We drove there and we walked into the restaurant it was a sunny bright day, kind of cool outside. We waited to be seated, the lady sat us down near the breakfast bar. We put our order's in for 2 sweet teas, 2 breakfast buffetts. We both got up and got our food. We sat down had idle chit chat, my dad was facing the doorway, I was facing the buffet. We were almost done with eating, when this man with a limp walked in, and I can't explain this but my dad looked at him and said there's something wrong with this guy. He said turn around and look. I looked at this guy, at first I said that is a woman, my dad said no he is a guy. He had long hair full of curls. At this time I didn't know this man was going to become a part of my day at this time. He had sat down, but when he saw me look at him he asked to be moved. He walked by us and as he approached I told my dad immediately I said he's homeless, he just got out of the hospital. I saw the arm band on his arm. My dad told our waitress he said I want to pay for his breakfast put it on our tab. Now my dad has never done this before he did it this day. This man walked towards the bathroom, my dad was like I want to make sure he eats. I said he will he is hungry. He came back from the bathroom. He went to the breakfast bar and got a plate of food. I told my dad go and ask him his name and tell him were going to pray for him. My dad went and tapped him on the shoulder and said sir, I payed for your breakfast and I am going to pray for you what is your name. To protect his name I am going to use his first iniial R. R. said thank you sir I need this badly. He hugged my dad. He walked away he said look I am ashamed of being dirty and smelling the way I do. Can you help me with something? My dad said what do you need? R said, I need to get to this hotel where my Girlfriend has a room at. My dad looked at me and I looked at him. I said yes we can take him. R, said I will not take long to eat and I will be done. He said he was just out of the hospital. We waited for him to eat. He finished, he said he wanted some clean clothes, and if we knew where to get some? We said yes there is a free store that we wanted to take him to. Another lady had bought him a box of food to go and a cup of coffee also. He was happy. We didn't know where the free store was located, we took him by our church. They gave him 2 Freezer size bags of snacks and some drinks to drink. We ended up at the free store which was closed, We ended up at the 24/7 prayer room next to the free store. We saw a young man sitting with a laptop we asked him if we could get some clothes for our friend. He said he didn't have access to the free store, but the young man in the back did. We went and spoke to this young man, we found his name again using an initial again M. Now we found out he was a minister to the homeless. He said he could get him a job, a place to live, etc. He took him to the free store where R found a nice button up shirt. He said I feel so much better. M, said I am taking you to this church near where the Clarion is located close to. This Church is huge and used to be very popular back in the late 1980's. M, went and got his stuff, put it in the trunk. R was sitting in the front store. Now remind you my dad just got off from work and has had no sleep since Tuesday night. As we are driving R is sharing things and M said to R, you are supposed to be a witness and preaching. So we get to this other church we walk in and R is happy, M went and talked to some people. There is hope in the man's eyes. M went to the kitchen and got R a sandwich to eat. He wasn't hungry he said he would save it for later. We leave and we get to the Clarion where his girlfriend is at. He calls her on his phone he qualified for. She comes down to see him and her husband is with them. . We took a picture with R, myself, my dad and M and his girlfriend's husband, I don't know about this part and I am just portraying it the way I know it was told to me. He was happy. We leave and M, myself and my dad go and grab a late lunch it is now 4:45 PM. we get to a chinese place to eat. We are sharing things with M, he is amazed at what my dad and I told him. We eat and we leave this place. On the way to drop M off he told my dad you are meant to speak of God, He told me that I am prophetic and that I have a way of connecting to others and I can sense things about others. I have found myself after this encounter questioning what does it mean to be like Jesus in these times of life currently? I said maybe we are made in Jesus Image and that each person we encounter we are supposed to be there for others. I find myself still saying Jesus ate with the less fortunate but what does it mean to be like Jesus. Is this what he wants each and every one of us to do for others? Does he want us to go and reach out to someone less fortunate than we know possible. There is another part to this it will be continued....... Please leave a comment and let me know what you really think. We have had another encounter with R.... This was yesterday. I will write about it over the weekend. I need time to figure out what God is wanting me to do with this encounter.

You can use Bible Gateway to read-&-review the Bible & maybe look-up teachings for what people should do in similar situations. I also think of the song "This Little Light of Mine," ("I'm gonna let it shine; This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine; This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine; Let it shine, Let it shine, Let it shine!"), which was taken from the 'epistle' (letter from an apostle to one of the first churches), where the apostle told them that 'since Jesus Christ is the light, so should all His followers in the church shine as Jesus did.' How did Jesus shine? He puts it this way, "I do nothing but what I see the Father do before me." Your dad did excellently, so now you know how to behave with YOUR children (of course, behaving that way whether your children see you or not, or whether you even HAVE children yet)

Actually I am the one that is always willing to help someone out less fortunately also.No don't have kids yet, but praying that one day it will happen. I know that God has plans for me. I have walked in the man's shoes before. I know what it is to be cold, hungry, and sick and tired of living the way you are living. R is afraid of change and I thought and told him that we are all afraid of change in our lives I said we are afraid of the unknowns in this life.

Do you want a child so much that you'll get pregnant as fast as you can (and raise the child by yourself) in order to 'beat the clock' (to have the child while your body is at its best)? Or would you rather not have a child at all than risk raising a child without both mother AND father. I didn't exactly 'grow up without a father' (he DID teach me to ride my bike, and was a financial support most of my life), but I didn't have him as a "father-figure" at crucial points in my young adulthood (those being 'in building a career' which I thus do not have now, and 'getting a girlfriend/wife' which I still need ... ) But my mother shows me that this 'hard-knocks life' is (tho not necessarily "happy") worth living

@mythociate I have someone in my life and we are planning on marriage and children. He is right for me. I am a good fit for him. He believes a father is there through the good and the bad. He has custody of his 2 kids now. I respect him for being super dad! He is a wonderful father to his children, I have known him for over 15 years and I know his children come first and foremost for him.

all of the things that I’ve done in my life nothing make me happy immediately and last forever more than helping people in need. it cure sadness, give meaning to life, make you want to do more. Eckhart Tolle quote “Love your neighbor as yourself [Matt. 22:39] means your neighbor is yourself, and that recognition of oneness is love.” I live what you feel friend, you have a loving heart and great great father .

Thank You brother! I believe in doing for others even when you don't have it because in some way GOD is trying to teach us lessons in our lives. We don't know what they are but he will teach us something out of everything we do in our lives.
