Why Can't Christians Understand How Prayer Works?

Jesus says "Ask in my name & Believe you 'receive' (the Aramaic means 'have received & are receiving') and you will have," but my friend (who keeps praying 'that God will deliver this or that') still thinks that that means 'Ask real nice, and I'll give it to ya` guaranteed!'
I want to ask her, "Don't you understand that 'Ask in my name,' doesn't mean 'JUS` SAAAAY JEEBUSS!' It means 'Ask for what you know Jesus would ask for.' What it means is 'ask YOURSELF if JESUS needs you to have what you ask-for,' and if you don't 'believe you have received it' yet, ask yourself 'what does Jesus need'?"
Why can't Christians understand this & communicate that understanding?

Buddha has to look in the mirror to make sure His actions REMAIN 'enlightened/awakened.'
