Have you ever had a really close call and did it change your life at all?

I am talking about a close shave with death, or some kind of life changing experience.
What happened exactly and how are you coping now?

I guess I've been lucky so far in life.
During WW2 my father, tells me, he set off to work as usual but forgot something and returned home. Where he would have been walking was bombed and he would have been killed if he hadn't of turned back.
Something warned him? Coincidence? Who knows.
