My doctor would not encourage it especially with boiling water. He told me that the microwave rays can transform water's molecular composition, which could be harmful on a cellular level. It is advisable to use direct heat if available if you have to heat something and the microwave oven if you have no other options.

@topffer I used to include the microwave oven as one of the appliances that I would like to buy since it's really convenient. But when my mom was diagnosed with diabetes, her doctor raised the issue of diet and that's when he stated that using the microwave for food causes the development of free radicals in the food or water that we eventually ingest. Her doctor is about 90 years old and still practicing medicine.

About your health problem its not the microwave that makes it unhealthy. About the safe problem. Microwaves are very safe. Most people don't realize it but, there is a big heavy wall of metal that keeps the microwaves from escaping. When the microwave says 30 seconds it really only cooks for about 25 seconds. The microwave turns off around 5 seconds before the time is up so that you don't get hit with microwaves. There is no doubt that microwaves are safe.
