Every parent wants the best for their children but so many of us are just not doing the right things for them. There are a lot of too soft parents; there are even more of too tough parents (see the links at the bottom for shocking articles).
Here are some things we should all do for our kids to help them grow up smarter and more socially adjusted. We do these for ourselves, really. After all our kids are extensions of us.
• Look them in the eyes all the time (well...except for when they sleep). It helps their brain to develop.
• Breastfeed your babies. That's the best way of bonding with them, I've learnt that myself.
• Let them look in the mirror. This way they can visualize themselves and their movements, all linked to their brain activity.
• Let them touch all kind of objects, with different textures.
• Read books to them. They won't understand a thing but they'll love your comforting voice and that makes them more calm and relaxed.
• Sing songs to them. Changes in music rhythm are well known for their benefits to anyone's brain, even animals and plants.
• Play "hide and seek". They will learn you won't disappear even if they can't see you. It also builds their trust in you.
• Go shopping together (yay! for moms). Seeing so many new faces, lights, colors, hearing new sounds are challenging for their brain.
• Be their "playground". No need for details here :)
• Make them laugh (like tickle their soles). That's a first step to a future sense of humor.
• Schedule quiet, relaxing moments together. Even an energizer bunny needs a break from time to time.
• Change the ambiance regularly so they can see the objects around the house from different sides and corners.
• Make them share with you their experiences, that helps them expand and practice their vocabulary.
• Describe everything you see when you go for a walk together. That's how they start to understand the world around them.
• Stop the TV!!! The tv gets their brain to "freeze", the tv is not a person, it's not you. That's what our children need. Us.

Yes, I agree with you.The parents should answer every question, asked by a child, instead of rebuking him otherwise his mental progress may be affected. Teach a child how to respect elders and help the old and the weak.
Thanks.

Nice tips and very useful ones. We used most of the tips when our kids were growing. Thanks for sharing.
