So I have been taking a compensation class for my HR minor in my degree. I actually really enjoy the class and have learned a lot. Recently we talked about minimum wage and compensation packages.
Do you think the minimum wage should be increased?
In my opinion I think it should at least be increased to $9 if not more!
One of the issues I have is that even skilled workers don't make much nowadays, but no one should have to live in poverty!
I don't think the minimum wage is fair, do you?
Here is an old article I found:

No, I don't. Well, maybe it SHOULD increase; but not because some CEO says it should!
The value of a dollar is 'the amount of work a dollar is worth' ... ... that is; if you make lower workers' wages higher, it'll make ALL-MONEY less-powerful (Keynesian Economics---if the price of labor goes up, the price of the products they sell has to go up; making the amount of goods-&-services people's money now buys the same negative amount of g&s their money buys now).
I'm sure you could say 'Well, why don't they just shave it off of what the executives are rumored to be making (something-like tens/hundreds of times the minimum wage)?' Why not? Because we're not in a Socialist country.
Maybe I'm just "parroting rumors" here, but the way I understand it Socialist countries don't have 'income-classes'---Socialist CEOs have the same wage as minimum-wagers. In order to realize the American Dream, there must be the poor to make your money powerful enough to buy more than they can.
Like my best friend said, "Quit complaining about not making enough & live within your means---pretty simple." Granted, she lives with her grandpa or uncle or best-girlfriend ... I don't know if she's ever 'moved out' (and I hope she hasn't; it's a tough world out there ... she's been through some terrible things, but ... I dunno )
