Hello Mylotters! I've been mulling something over in my mind for a bit now and I'm wondering what this community might think of it. I am in my early twenties but can easily pass for a middle school kid. I really don't have an issue with it, ( not a big deal having to display my driver's license from time to time, kind of a cute picture) but I'm becoming nervous that it is impairing my job search. I have several years of waitressing experience, but in my most recent job hunt I haven't had too much luck. I know there may be any number of reasons for this but I'm trying to isolate any particular factor which may be preventing me from getting the job. What do you think? Could my youthful appearance be deterring potential employers?

Confidence, a good attitude, personality, appearance, your work history and proper preparation when submitting your C.V are all important factors employers will consider during the selection process for hiring new employees. When you can tick all these boxes your application will be very hard to overlook.

It's all in how you carry yourself. When going for an interview and while working, you should dress and act as a mature adult. At your age I was often mistaken as a child, but was still accepted for the job.

Hi Molly,
There is nothing to worry about. Your self confidence is important, do not let it out. Your hard work will always pay. Just wait for your turn to come. Try harder and harder until u succeed. Explore things on how to apply for jobs and things like that. Be happy and don't lose heart.
