2013 has indeed brought anguish to most people especially here in the Philippines.Looking back, the country was devastated by disasters in the last quarter of the year. Visayas was ravaged by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, and then the worst typhoonever to hit the country in history thereby killing thousands of individuals and destroying billions worth of property.
This month alone, tragedies upon tragedies occured in several places . Foremost was the Skyway accident that killed almost twenty people. There's the Atimonan accident that killed twenty people, and just recently,a beauty queen was killed in an acciden in Southern Luzon.
In our area alone, several people passed away. Just imagine a street which held vigil for a number of deaths on a weekly basis. Area coordinators even arranged for a monthly street mass to end this curse that befell our street.
These sad events, however, didn't occur only in the Philippines. Affliction spread itself all over the world. Storms, government shutdown, killing rampages, fire, and then the passing away of great people,Nelsaon Mandela, my favorite author, Tom Clancy, and of course the sudden death of actor Paul Walker.
I'm not saying that there hasn't been anything good that came during this year but whatever good things happened wasn't equivalent to the bad things that took place.
I really wanted this year to end and with it all the grief and despondency it brought to people all over the world. Then let us renew our hopein facing another year letting go of all the negativities and welcome 2014 with a positive note in our hearts.

Natural disasters will continue to occur around the world, they are circumstances beyond our control; an act of God as they say. It is a destructive, traumatic time for everyone involved and people all over the world are touched by the human spirit to recover or to help others in need. We all pray for the families and communities directly affected by this devastation so they can return to some degree of normality.
It is true we are all at the mercy of Mother Earths need to correct imbalances in natureā¦
