Knowledge is one thing that has no limits. It is endless; the more you run behind it the more you explore and the more you learn. It does not differentiate between younger and elder or between rich and poor; anyone can gain knowledge and enlighten themselves. Books have always been the constant source of knowledge to the human beings. They can be referred as “DRUGS” for a book addict without which he or she is lifeless. Since, the time immemorial Knowledge has helped people to achieve unprecedented success and achieve fame. Every successful man in this world has acclaimed fame in his or her field due to the knowledge that he or she has in that particular field. But in the quest for gaining more knowledge, a question that often arises in our mind is what is more important? Theoretical or Practical knowledge. In this competitive world, where the world is gripped by financial turmoil with a substantial cut in jobs, practical knowledge always supersedes theoretical knowledge and is also incomplete without each other. The following paragraph proves it. Theoretical knowledge is not something that is to be ignored. Without it, one cannot understand the basics of a subject. It lays a strong foundation for a clear understanding of any subject. On the other hand, practical knowledge is a stage that gives evidences or proof to justify the basics learnt in the books or the theoretical knowledge that an individual has gained. In order to have a lucrative career, it is necessary to have practical knowledge, which in technical terms is referred as ‘EXPERIENCE’ or ‘FIELD EXPOSURE’. Most of the companies give importance to those individuals who have X number of experiences in his or her respective fields. This is the reason why experienced professionals always hold an upper hand in comparison to freshers when it comes to a respectable job title like that of a Manager or a Head of the Department in any professional field.

Of course is pratical knowledge. From the philosophy of dialectical materialism, we can know practice is the sole criterion for testing truth.

Knowledge comes easy to those who take the time to study and can be gained via many avenues. Traditionally books and great teachers have been the cornerstone of much knowledge. Today the internet must surely be the easiest, most convenient and most accessible conduit to gaining knowledge. However, for the majority of people putting that knowledge to practical use through hardwork remains the key to becoming really successful at what you do.

Sir Isaac Newton wrote: “If I have seen further it is by standing on ye sholders of Giants.” Most of our knowledge comes from others and I believe as you conclude, that all knowledge is good but practical knowledge is better.

Such an interesting and thought provoking subject. It reminds me of people I've met in my lifetime. Some have been very successful by having "street smarts" or should I say good sound practical experiences to be clear, while other people are book learned. I guess it all depends on the application though like the subject. People needed for research demands took a nose dive in the later part of the 20th so that practical knowledge became much more valuable.
